Better late than never…

I have been a bit rubbish with posting new work recently so I will make a start at getting some new posts up with some recent design work from the past few months. I have also reworked the site somewhat so you may notice a few changes here and there.

One of my biggest projects recently has been www.wowthankyou.co.uk, an ecommerce site selling handmade gifts, all of which are made in the UK. The site is fully ecommerce enabled and is backed up by a blog, regular competitions, and includes regular features on suppliers and a fully interactive craft fair calendar. The site is programmed predominantly in php/MySQL. Pop on over and take a look!

I have been designing a logo, CD packaging and website for a new up and coming act, MC Danger. Here’s a visual of the CD front cover, will post more images of the packaging and website once they are completed.

I have put together a 3 page PDF of some of my work samples, which you can download and view and see what I can do. I have tried to make it include a mixture of various styles/disciplines and it includes a mixture of projects from the last few years, including logo designs, design for print and web design. I am currently updating my portfolio so will post pictures of that soon too hopefully.

I have been working on a new mattress buyer’s guide brochure at work last week, visual attached below of the work in progress.

A slightly different approach to my usual design style, more minimalistic with block colours and clean typography. Images are stock photography purchases. Once complete I will add some more images to my print design portfolio!

I have added a web design section to my portfolio, showing a few websites I have created. I generally create sites in HTML, using php/MySQL where necessary for database driven content, and also Flash for animations. I also like to use WordPress for blogging sites.

Apart from drinking tea and eating custard creams I have had a few bits and pieces on the go these the past few months. When I get time I enter some logo design competitions on LogoSauce or Worth1000, I have won a couple so far. Here’s my latest entry for a competition to design a logo for an Austrian hip-hop/R’n'B club called Juicy…

I have also spent a lot of time developing a MySQL driven website www.bestcuppaintown.com. The idea of the site is simple – you submit reviews of caf?©s and coffee shops you visit, then other users can search for places if they are out and about and fancy a cuppa (and maybe a slice of cake!). Also has a news section, blog, Twitter updates etc. Take a peek and let me know what you think.

Apart from that I have been doing a few other bits and pieces I will add once finished, I am waiting for the warm weather to come back so I can get out and about with the new Polaroid camera, a bargain at $2 from a Thrift Shop in Fernie. Lets hope it works…
